JAMMING SESSIONS AT SUOMENLINNA
All musicians and music lovers in Monita are welcome to a jamming
session at Suomenlinna, the premises of Taidekoulu Maa, on Saturday
19th of August at noon. Bring your own instrument/voice along and create
rhythms and networks in the world of music.

OIL PAINTING COURSE
Monita's course in oil painting held by artist Heidi Romo will be arranged in the premises of Taidekoulu Maa in Suomenlinna 27.7-4.8. Departure in the morning with the 9 o'clock ferry. More advanced painters are free to realize their own artistic projects. If the weather permits, the course will work outside.

LOUHI, LOUHEMPI... THE MOTHERS OF KALEVALA
Monita's "The Mothers of Kalevala" was performed in Stoa's entrance hall on Wed 10.5. and
Fri 12.5. at 3 and 5 p.m. Different cultures and languages met in the mythical
world of Kalevala mothers. The energetic group of women sang, recited, danced and acted.

Don't miss Monita's TV documentaries!
Monita has, in cooperation with YLE 1, produced a series of three TV documentaries that attempt
to shed new light on Finland's cultural scene from a woman's perspective.
On Sunday 19.3 at 9.15 pm, we will see Ghadi Boustani's documentary
"Aina jonkun tytär" (Always someone's daughter), on Sunday 26.3 at 9.15 pm Shukri Omar Ahmed's documentary
"Somalisisua" (Somali stamina), and on Sunday 2.4 at 9.15 pm Maria Lappalainen's documentary
"Ei pelkkää Pushkinia!" (Not only Pushkin!).
Monita artists trained in London
On Tuesday 28.2. Monita's artist instructors Fatima Usman and Pilar Valdivia, as well as Yonca Ermutlu
from the Steering Committee, took part in Peer research -training organized by our British partner project
SOVA in London. Peer research is a method developed by our partner during the last round of Equal -projects, as
a complement to the academic "top down" research models.
Tales of Beauty -1st meeting
Monitaís autumn's hit, Tales of Beauty gets a sequel in the spring.
On Wednesday 19th of April the next event will be shown in Stoa, focusing on the beauty
of dances, music, costumes and rituals from Latin America.
The first meeting took place on Sunday 29th of January.

Monita's generous course selection
A CV- and portfolio-course for Monita artists started in January.
In March there will be a drumming course for women lead by Pape Sarr.
At the end of April starts a course called "Dance from around the world"
lead by Monita's instructor-artists Aki Suzuki, Fatima Usman and Pilar Valdivia.
In the summer an art camp is organized for visual artists in the premises of Art School Maa.
All the courses are free of charge for Monita artists.

A Get-together for all Monita participants
started our year 2006,
On Tuesday 17.1, a happy crowd assembled in the Martha restaurant, enjoying
food and drinks, music, dance and program.
