The photograph exhibition Women from around the world – importing “sisu” tells the stories of eleven women who have moved to Finland for reasons of work, love or political asylum. The exhibition was put together in 2007 with the support of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The women’s personal stories and the photographs have now been collected in a publication which sets their narratives in the framework of global migration. Published in October 2010, the multilingual book is in Finnish, Swedish and English.

Kassandra’s partners for the exhibition were the Helinä Rautavaara Museum and UNIFEM Finland. For the book project we were also joined by the Finnish Red Cross and the Martha Organization. The publication was supported by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Culture Fund.
